Damaraland Camp

About Damaraland Camp

Damaraland Camp is located in the Huab River valley of northwest Namibia. The camp consists of ten elevated canvas-walled units with wooden frames and private decks overlooking the surrounding desert landscape. Each unit includes a bathroom with a shower and hot water. The main area features a central lounge, dining room, and a small swimming pool. Wildlife in this arid region includes desert-adapted elephant, oryx, springbok, and Hartmann mountain zebra. Guests observe these animals during guided nature drives conducted in open-top vehicles. Walking safaris led by local trackers offer an alternative perspective of the terrain and its geology. The camp operates as a joint venture with the local Torra Conservancy, focusing on community development and wildlife conservation. Guests also visit nearby archaeological sites such as Twyfelfontein to view prehistoric rock engravings. Nights are typically quiet with clear visibility of the southern sky. The climate is dry, with warm days and cool evenings throughout most of the year. Staff provide daily housekeeping, and meals are served in a communal setting.
