Joy's Camp
About Joy's Camp
Joy’s Camp is located in the Shaba National Reserve, a rugged landscape of stark beauty dominated by jagged volcanic hills and riverine forests. The camp is built on the site of Joy Adamson’s former base, capturing the spirit of her wildlife conservation efforts. The tents are elegantly designed, boasting rich, local fabrics and sweeping views over the surrounding arid terrain. Shaba is home to unique dry-country species, such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, and Somali ostrich. Guests here enjoy a sense of remote adventure, with game drives that explore the dramatic gorges and spring-fed oases of the reserve. It is a striking, arid-land destination that provides a distinct contrast to the traditional plains safaris found elsewhere in Kenya.
Why we like it
The camp offers a beautiful, stylish base from which to explore the starkly dramatic and under-visited landscape of Shaba.
