Splash Camp
About Splash Camp
Splash Camp occupies a private concession within the Okavango Delta, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. This location benefits from a permanent water channel, ensuring consistent activity throughout the year. The camp features ten en-suite rooms constructed from canvas and timber, each elevated on wooden decks to overlook the surrounding plains. Interiors focus on functional comfort, offering spacious sleeping areas, private viewing decks, and bathrooms equipped with indoor and outdoor showers. Common areas include a central dining room, a lounge, and a plunge pool. Wildlife viewing occurs primarily via 4x4 open-sided vehicles, with night drives permitted due to the private concession status. Walking safaris guided by professional trackers provide an alternative perspective on the local ecosystem. During periods of sufficient water levels, mokoro excursions navigate the channels, allowing for silent observation of aquatic life and bird populations. Predator sightings, including lion, leopard, and African wild dog, occur regularly across the landscape. The camp operates with a focus on low-impact tourism, utilizing solar power for electricity and maintaining a small footprint within the habitat. Guests access the property via light aircraft transfer from Maun, arriving at a private airstrip located twenty minutes from the main camp.
Why we like it
Splash Camp stands out because of its strategic location overlooking a permanent waterhole in the Kwara Private Concession. The property provides consistent wildlife viewing directly from its raised tented suites. By combining land-based drives with water-based mokoro excursions, the camp offers a practical and immersive way to experience the Okavango Delta environment.
