Ubuntu Migration Camp
About Ubuntu Migration Camp
Ubuntu Migration Camp is an intimate, mobile safari camp that embodies the spirit of its name—a Zulu word reflecting "humanity" and "generosity." Operated by the renowned Asilia Africa, this camp is designed to leave no trace, moving three times a year to ensure guests are always at the heart of the Great Migration. Whether perched on the southern plains or tucked away in the northern Lamai Wedge, Ubuntu offers a raw, authentic safari experience that balances traditional bush living with understated luxury. Under the shade of acacia trees, the camp consists of ten spacious canvas tents, each featuring private verandas that open onto the vast Serengeti horizon. The atmosphere is social and warm, centered around a cozy lounge and dining tent where travelers swap stories of the day’s sightings. As the sun sets, the "bush television"—a crackling campfire—becomes the focal point for sundowners under a canopy of stars, followed by gourmet meals served in a communal setting that fosters a sense of shared adventure. The true luxury of Ubuntu lies in its exceptional access to the wild. In the northern months, it provides a front-row seat to the dramatic Mara River crossings, where thousands of wildebeest brave crocodile-infested waters. In the south, the focus shifts to the calving season, a period of renewal where the plains are carpeted with newborns and predators are never far behind. With expert guides and a commitment to conservation, Ubuntu offers a profound connection to the rhythm of the African wilderness.
