Leroo La Tau
About Leroo La Tau
Leroo La Tau ('Footprint of the Lion') is perched on an elevated bluff overlooking the Boteti River on the western boundary of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. This prime location offers exceptional wildlife viewing, particularly during the dry season when large herds of zebra and wildebeest migrate to the permanent waters of the Boteti River. The lodge features 12 spacious tented rooms, each built on wooden platforms with private decks facing east over the river, providing spectacular sunrise views and opportunities to watch animals come to drink throughout the day. A highlight is the hidden hide positioned below the lodge at water level, offering panoramic views over the Boteti River and incredible photographic opportunities at eye level with wildlife. The main lodge area features comfortable lounges, a dining area, bar, swimming pool, and multiple viewing decks. Game drives explore the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, focusing on the exceptional wildlife concentrations along the Boteti River, including predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and brown hyenas that follow the migrating herds.
Why we like it
The dramatic location overlooking the Boteti River provides front-row seats to one of Botswana's great wildlife spectacles—the zebra and wildebeest migration. The water-level hide is a photographer's dream, and the combination of predator activity and massive herds creates exceptional game viewing.
