Wilderness Magashi Peninsula
About Wilderness Magashi Peninsula
Wilderness Magashi Peninsula occupies a private concession in the northeastern sector of Akagera National Park, Rwanda. The lodge looks out over Lake Rwanyakizinga, providing an unobstructed view of the surrounding savannah and wetlands. Six spacious tented suites feature en-suite bathrooms, private decks, and sustainable cooling systems powered by solar energy. The central guest area includes a lounge, dining space, and a swimming pool designed to blend into the shoreline. The park supports a stable population of lions, black rhinos, leopards, elephants, and buffalo, alongside diverse bird species including the shoebill stork. Daily activities focus on morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, guided bush walks, and boating excursions on the lake to observe aquatic wildlife. Conservation efforts remain central to the lodge operation, with research initiatives tracking local predator activity. Guests have private access to diverse habitats, ensuring a focused observation environment away from public traffic. The architecture uses local materials, stone, and wood to maintain a low environmental profile while providing functional shelter in the bush.
