Wilderness Magashi
About Wilderness Magashi
Wilderness Magashi occupies a remote peninsula within the northern sector of Akagera National Park, Rwanda. The property overlooks Lake Rwanyakazinga, providing direct views of the water and surrounding savanna. Accommodation consists of six spacious tented suites, each constructed on raised wooden decks with en-suite bathrooms, private viewing areas, and canvas walls that allow for natural airflow and connectivity with the environment. The main dining and lounge areas provide a central point for guests to observe the lake from an elevated position. The park contains a restored population of lions and black rhinos, alongside elephants, buffaloes, and various antelope species. Activities center on day and night game drives in custom-built vehicles to track predators and plains game. Guests may also access the lake via motorized boats for close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife such as the shoebill stork. Guided walking safaris provide opportunities to study flora and smaller fauna at a slower pace. The lodge operates with a focus on low-impact tourism, utilizing solar power and prioritizing the conservation of the park ecosystem through its partnership with African Parks.
