Wilderness Little Ruckomechi
About Wilderness Little Ruckomechi
Wilderness Little Ruckomechi occupies a site on the banks of the Zambezi River within the Mana Pools National Park. The camp consists of four tented suites, each raised on a timber deck. Each tent features hardwood furniture, private en-suite bathrooms, and an open deck facing the river, providing views of the floodplain and the escarpment beyond. The main area includes a central dining space and a small plunge pool. The park is home to elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and a variety of antelope species, including eland and kudu. Guests observe wildlife through guided game drives in open vehicles and walking safaris led by licensed professionals. The Zambezi River allows for canoeing excursions, where participants can view hippos and crocodiles from the water level. The camp operates seasonally, aligning with the drier months when wildlife gathers near the riverbank. Power is supplied by a solar system, and the design utilizes canvas and wood to integrate with the surrounding riverine forest of acacia and mahogany trees.
Why we like it
Wilderness Little Ruckomechi provides exclusive access to the Zambezi River frontage within Mana Pools. Its small size ensures private wildlife sightings, while the open-air design promotes direct engagement with the landscape. Guests benefit from specialized walking safaris and canoeing excursions led by experienced professional guides in this remote riverine habitat.
