Lodge Description

Purpose
As the concessionaire of the private Linkwasha and Makalolo areas in south-eastern Hwange National Park, we have struck up solid partnerships with Zimbabwe’s Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZPWMA) and other conservation entities, as well as the local community in order to protect the wildlife and support the people in surrounding villages.

Place
Linkwasha is situated in a private concession in the best location in Hwange. It is found near the famed Ngamo Plains, where wildlife gathers in numbers during summer – to add to the year-round excellent viewing from the camp itself; Linkwasha overlooks a pan that is a magnet for game seeking to quench its thirst.

Overview
Hwange is Zimbabwe’s largest and most popular national park where our Makalolo and Linkwasha concessions offer some of the best game viewing in Africa. The Zambezi River’s exceptional variety of spectacular scenery is home to one of the world’s Natural Wonders, the Victoria Falls, while downriver, our concession lies in Mana Pools National Park, renowned for its superb wildlife viewing and vistas.

Wildlife
Hwange National Park covers some 1.4 million hectares and supports a mix of habitats. This diverse area is shared between desert-adapted and woodland species, ensuring large numbers of animals all year round – elephant, buffalo, sable, roan, giraffe, wildebeest, impala and even gemsbok.

Activities
As Linkwasha is located in the Hwange National Park, we adhere to the National Parks regulations including no off-road driving.
• Game drives in 05 x 7-seater open 4x4 Toyota Hilux. During cooler weather conditions, hot water bottles, lined ponchos and blankets are provided.
• A pair of Olympus binoculars is available in each of the game drive vehicles for guests to share amongst themselves whilst game viewing and may be requested from our guides.
• Private activities available on request (subject to availability and at an additional cost). • Guided nature walks.
• Birding.
• Full day outing with picnic at Ngamo.
• “Outdoor” Ecologist presentations on the surrounding area.
• Night drives with red filtered spotlight for nocturnal animals.
• Star Bed at Scott’s Pan (approximately 15 minute drive from camp).
• Sunken hide within walking distance of the camp.

• Wilderness Safaris and Olympus Photo Hub experience.

Accommodation
The camp is an eclectic mix of contemporary interiors and Ndebele culture, its nine luxurious tents (eight twin and one family) overlooking the scenic plain. The main area includes various multi-level decks, amongst them, a cosy library complete with fireplace and shaded salas surrounding an inviting pool.
