Lodge Description
Close to Victoria Falls but far away from everywhere
Waterberry Zambezi Lodge is a perfect hideaway for a visit to the amazing Victoria Falls.
One of very few lodges actually on the Zambezi riverbank near the Falls, Waterberry is perfectly placed for guests to enjoy total peace and quiet while being close to the Falls and all the adventures that Livingstone has to offer. Away from the noise and bustle of the activities around town the perfect silence is enhanced by birdsong, the sound of hyena and lion on the opposite bank and the whistle of frogs along the river’s edge.
Each little thatched, en suite cottage has its own private terrace where guests can sit, relax and enjoy the view and maybe choose to dine in privacy.
Waterberry is famous for good food and friendly, welcoming service. Nothing is too much for us as we plan how guests can get the best from their visit to this beautiful area. Obviously a visit to Victoria Falls is a must. And there are so many ways to see them. Walk around, climb all the way down to the Boiling Pot (and back up again!), fly over in a helicopter, raft the rapids, climb under the spray at low water, enjoy the view upside down from the bunji (!), swim in Devils Pool at the top of the Falls……… all things are possible! This is how to discover that it’s not for nothing that Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.
Back at the lodge guests can choose from relaxing round our lovely pool or guided birding in our excellent river woodland. River cruises are a feature of the lodge that every guest loves – a sunset cruise with drinks and snacks watching the spectacular light show as the sun sets; a dawn cruise as the river awakes; fishing for tiger and bream; always a chance of spotting game on the riverbank in the Zambezi National Park on the opposite bank.
There’s no doubt about it, Waterberry is a perfect Victoria Falls getaway. But there is so much more to see in beautiful Zambia – so for guests with more time to spare Livingstone is a gateway to Zambia’s unique, remote and unspoiled safari areas.
Thatched en suite cottages with private terraces
The cottages are set around our beautiful lawns and gardens on the banks of the Zambezi. Named after birds found around the lodge, these are lovely cool rooms open to the high thatch. All have private terraces and are en suite with mosquito nets, fans, air conditioning. There's a variety of doubles and twins plus a family house. All the rooms are different in size and style.
• Swallow - double with shower on the riverbank
• Weaver - double with shower overlooking the river
• Jacana - double plus single in alcove (good for families) overlooking private dam
• Heron - double plus single in alcove (good for families) overlooking private dam
• Wagtail - twin/double overlooking pool, gardens and private dam
• Sunbird - double overlooking pool, gardens and private dam
• Owl - double downstairs, twin on mezzanine, ground floor lounge, family bathroom (can add extra single).
Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi
A sunset cruise is the perfect way to start the holiday, relaxing on the peace and quiet of the Zambezi with a gin and tonic and snacks, watching whatever wildlife comes your way and with a virtually guaranteed perfect sunset.
School and village visit
A completely uncommercial village, where many Waterberry staff live, gives a unique view of life in rural Zambia. The Waterberry guide shows you daily life, housebuilding and agriculture and the Tukongote School built with guest donations.
